Dvořák: Violin Sonate F-Dur, Op. 57

Dvorak's Violin Sonata is regarded as the chamber counterpart to his Violin Concerto in A minor, as its understated, more intimate and private complement. The composer wrote it during a period separating two versions of his concerto, in the spring of 1880, and he first performed the work for a private audience in Berlin with Josef Joachim. It was published by Simrock that same year. This current edition was supervised by Antonin Pokorny and Karel Solc and is issued as part of the first Complete Critical Edition of Works by Antonin Dvorak.
